Welcome Spring and Welcome Back Kathy!

Welcome Spring and Welcome Back Kathy !!!

April 20, 2009

As our last class session with Kathy before summer is upon us, I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive of our store this past “school year” as well as of  Kathy during her difficult ordeal.  Many, many thanks to our very talented in-store stitchers - Mary Grace and Sally - for stepping in and handling Kathy’s classes so professionally.  I am grateful to all who so kindly supported them in their roles as substitute teachers.

New summer hours will be in effect as of June 15th through Labor Day weekend.  The store hours will be as follows:  Monday – Saturday, 10:00am - 3:00pm and closed on Sunday.

SUMMER ALL-DAY SESSIONS

Remember Kathy will pop in for 3 all-day sessions this summer:  June 24, July 16 and July 29.   These sessions were sold out last year so check the front desk for available seating or to be placed on a wait list.

FALL CLASSES

Fall classes are too far away to think about, but if you would like to reserve your spot, please stop by and leave a deposit of $40.

NEW FIBERS

The week of April 20th, we are expecting 21 new colors of Bellalusso (the replacement for Medici).     In addition we will be carrying the full line of Felicity’s Garden (50% Chinese Silk/ 50% Australian Merino wool).  This is a fabulous fiber and one of my Mom’s personal favorites.

NEW BOOKS

Please check out three new (Kathy endorsed) additions to our library.  They are as follows:

-          Categories for Needlepoint Stitches, by Julia Snyder

-          176 Amazing Stitches to Unlock Creativity, by Julia Snyder

-          Backgrounds and Such, by Julia Snyder

NEW CANVASES

We will continue to receive new canvases throughout the summer months so check the walls and our announcements.  Many new canvases from Maggie are scheduled to arrive over the next couple of weeks and from Dream House Ventures as well.  And check out the new deliveries from Studio 2 Ltd - they are magnificent!  Kathy will definitely have fun with stitches for these pieces ! J

I certainly hope to see many of you over the summer.  While I cannot wait for this season to arrive, at the same time I’m experiencing some melancholy as I miss seeing everyone on a weekly basis.  I find myself very lucky to be surrounded by such a talented group of stitchers as well as friends.

Happiest Stitching!

Fondly,

Francine

Early March News and the Mindy Trunk Show

Hi everyone!

New canvases ordered from the January market continue to arrive at the store.  A few of our newest additions are from Maggie.

Also the Mindy trunk show is finally in after a late delivery.  The canvases featured in this show are very elegant; please stop on in to check out her collection.  This trunk show will remain at The Needleworks for two additional weeks.

Sadly, our phenomenal head instructor, Kathy Stolpin, was in an automobile accident last Wednesday, March 4th.  Fortunately she will recover with some time off and intensive physical therapy.  We all miss her and send her our best thoughts for a speedy recovery .  “We love you Kathy and anxiously await your return”!

During Kathy’s recuperation Mary Grace and Sally will be substitute teaching.  Both ladies teach in store as well and have been Kathy’s students themselves over many years.  I’d like to thank both of these talented women for their additional support during this difficult time.  Further I want to extend my Thanks to our many students who have been so very understanding and supportive during Kathy’s absence.  Truly, I THANK YOU ALL - you are a lovely community of outstanding women.

Changes at The Needleworks can also be found in our thread section.  Silk and Ivory added 4 new colors to their line.  Also, coming very soon will be new colors for Bellalusso as well as color additions in Impressions.

Well bye for now… Happy Stitching all!

My Trip to TNNA Market in San Diego

Hi everyone!  I can’t wait to fill you in on the results of my 2009 shopping expedition.

For starters, San Diego offered a very welcome escape from this harsh Michigan winter!!!!!  The wonderful weather alone would have made the trip special.  However, once inside the 2009 market convention center I was thrilled to discover many new things I could bring back for my needlepoint enthusiasts.

I had no trouble adding to our already large selection of threads. ( Well, actually the trouble is where to display more threads.  Oh well, worries for another day like when they arrive in store!….ahhhh details.)  Anyway the first new thread addition was an easy pick from Threadworx.  Their new Italian, overdye wool boasts 42 beautiful color combinations.     The second new thread addition is Kreinik’s trim, both with and without wire, in all of their newer color choices.

A further find was an addition for The Needleworks accessory department. We now carry Stirling leather products in their very affordable and bright color selections.  These products offer a fun way to display or to gift one’s needlepoint.

Next canvases were ordered from over thirty artists some of which are tried and true and best enjoyed by our customers.  Two new artists’ work will also be introduced, that of Barbara Bergensten and Sandy Grossman.   Further, The Needleworks will be offering Elizabeth Bradley kits from The United Kingdom.

There are many new items well-suited for the youngest people in our lives such as night light kits and picture frames to needlepoint.

For Melissa Shirley fans, there are 2 new groupings of candy cane ornaments ( I must make special note that  one is a chocolate grouping)   available as well as two, new, 3-D Christmas boot canvases.

Please check out the new additions in the library sections as well:  Suzy’s Mini Stitches by Suzy Murphy and Beards That I Have Known by Diana Bosworth & Kamee Cumbie.  We also have 6 new, wonderful, alphabet books in stock.

I invite everyone to stop in and  check things out as arrivals will be coming in weekly.  I will try to get some photos of the new canvases that are arriving posted here soon.

And remember that every day at The Needleworks is a day to play!

Joyous Stitching everyone!

Francine
